If you are looking for ways to change up your hair style in time for Holiday Season, then you may want to give crochet braids a try. Crochet braids can take on a variety of appearances leaving you with a ton of hairstyles to try.
My new favorite way of wearing crochet braids is with human hair. I chose to use human hair so that I could change the style with heat as often as I’d like.
I was going for a sophisticated, sultry look and I knew that I wanted to wear waves, loose curls, and spiral curls. The beauty of wearing crochet braids is that your real hair is completely covered and out of harm's way.
This style is perfect during the colder months when the weather can’t help but leave our hair feeling depleted. You can cornrow or have your hair cornrowed and tucked away and know that your hair will flourish as it is protected.
When having your hair cornrowed, it is important to think in advance about how you'll want to wear your hair. Will you want a middle part? Or will you want a side part that allows you to sweep the hair over your eyes? The choice if yours, and you may have to complete few crochet braid looks before you find your ideal way.
It is also important to remember that the flatter your cornrows, the flatter the human hair will lay on your head. If you are going for volume this may not be an issue for you but if you want a flat, sleek style, make sure that you opt for smaller cornrows.
Moisture is something to remember before braiding your hair. You want to make sure that your hair is moisturized with a water-based moisturizer and sealed with a heavy oil like shea butter or even Jamaican castor oil. The heavier the sealant the better.
Once your hair has been braided, you are ready to install the human hair. Installing the human hair takes very little time and can be completed in 3 hours or less.
You can decide on the length and fullness based on the kind of styles you’ll be wearing.
Once you have installed the hair, you can decide if you will be cutting or shaping the hair into a desired look. I kept my style as long as possible because I knew that I wanted long, loose curls.
Human hair crochet braids make for a beautiful, protective style.
