As much as I love rocking braid styles such as; box braids and singles, I am aware of how long they take to complete. When you live a busy lifestyle it can be hard to sacrifice 5 hours for a new set of braids. Since I am always on the look for a new way to create gorgeous braid styles, I was so blown away when I stumbled upon this new style. I was looking for a style that would allow me to workout, run errands, and still look pulled together for those more professional settings. I found Goddess jumbo cornrows, and boy was I impressed with this style.

I am all about protective styling and keeping my edges intact. I also like to nurture my scalp on a daily basis. The Goddess Jumbo cornrows allow me to follow a hair protective plan with ease and in a short amount of time. This simple style calls for one to braid their hair in cornrows in any desired way. I opted for a slanted cornrow style in my latest look (included photos). Once your hair has been cornrowed, you then take your pre-braided, extensions and you sew one onto each of your braids. You can get a better idea from our tutorial video below.

The purpose of this style is to decrease the amount tension your hair receives. You no longer have to worry about your hair breaking as it is mixed with the synthetic or human hair. Since your real hair is covered by the pre-braided extension, you won’t have to worry about the look of frizz. You are able to wear this style much longer than any other goddess jumbo style. The best part is that you can reuse the extensions over and over. This not only cuts down on time, but also the cost!

If you are looking for ways to change up your hair style in time for Holiday Season, then you may want to give crochet braids a try. Crochet braids can take on a variety of appearances leaving you with a ton of hairstyles to try.

My new favorite way of wearing crochet braids is with human hair. I chose to use human hair so that I could change the style with heat as often as I’d like.

I was going for a sophisticated, sultry look and I knew that I wanted to wear waves, loose curls, and spiral curls. The beauty of wearing crochet braids is that your real hair is completely covered and out of harm's way.

This style is perfect during the colder months when the weather can’t help but leave our hair feeling depleted. You can cornrow or have your hair cornrowed and tucked away and know that your hair will flourish as it is protected.

When having your hair cornrowed, it is important to think in advance about how you'll want to wear your hair. Will you want a middle part? Or will you want a side part that allows you to sweep the hair over your eyes? The choice if yours, and you may have to complete few crochet braid looks before you find your ideal way.

It is also important to remember that the flatter your cornrows, the flatter the human hair will lay on your head. If you are going for volume this may not be an issue for you but if you want a flat, sleek style, make sure that you opt for smaller cornrows.

Moisture is something to remember before braiding your hair. You want to make sure that your hair is moisturized with a water-based moisturizer and sealed with a heavy oil like shea butter or even Jamaican castor oil. The heavier the sealant the better. Once your hair has been braided, you are ready to install the human hair. Installing the human hair takes very little time and can be completed in 3 hours or less.

You can decide on the length and fullness based on the kind of styles you’ll be wearing. Once you have installed the hair, you can decide if you will be cutting or shaping the hair into a desired look. I kept my style as long as possible because I knew that I wanted long, loose curls.

Human hair crochet braids make for a beautiful, protective style.

How to Protect Your Hair While Swimming

The summer weather seems to bring out the best in us all. We start to see fresh pedicures, lighter clothing, and fun hairstyles.

This is also a great time to enjoy some fun water activities.

Unfortunately, those same water activities we love to enjoy, have a tendency to wreck our healthy hair care progress.

Our hair is extremely vulnerable when it is wet. So when you add chlorine or salt water to the mixture, hair is even more susceptible to dryness and damage.

Luckily, you don’t have to sacrifice the health of your hair while you’re out enjoying the warmer summer months.

Here are a few tips to help you keep your hair intact while swimming.

 Wear Your Hair In Braids
Braiding your hair will help you keep tangles at bay and especially save your vulnerable ends.
Having you hair braided makes rinsing and cleansing your scalp a breeze. Braids help to keep hair care at a minimal without comprising your style.

Apply conditioner and wear a swim cap

Are rocking a curly fro or a straight hairstyle this season? If so, you may want to consider wearing swim cap. There are so many cute options these days and most importantly, your hair will thank you for it. Add conditioner to your hair before putting on the swim cap just to make sure there is a barrier between your hair and the chlorine or salt water. Conditioner will also help you to keep your hair moisturized while you’re out doing some laps.

 Immediately rinse after swimming
Whether you are wearing braids our your hair out, you want to get rid of the chlorine immediately after leaving the pool. Even if you are swimming in the ocean, you want to remove the salt from your hair so that it does not continue to dry it out. If you are wearing braids and are afraid that you won’t be able to rinse all of the chlorine from your braids do not worry. Pay close attention to your scalp and rinse your braids with warm water. Apply an oil like coconut oil that is great for strengthens and moisturizing.

These simple tips will help you to maintain your healthy hair regimen without sacrificing your summer water activities.
